A short video I made on a shop called Genuine Motorworks.
I dig this song and most of the rest of this mixtape which is part of the oh so great Summer Mix Series which you should definitely take a look at if you need something to jam to. Yes jam…
In my mind the Boatel is one of the coolest places to stay in New York.
In the words of its creators:
The Boatel is an interactive art + sound installation that takes place on the docks of Marina 59, under the planes taking off from JFK airport and five blocks from Rockaway Beach.
23 artists from NYC and abroad are meticulously crafting a world out of the flotsam & jetsam of Jamaica Bay. A cluster of reclaimed/rebuilt docks + junk boats create worlds within worlds, an hour from the city and a thousand miles away from reality.
If you live in New York go! It’s open until the end of November.
Found this on the 99% Invisible playlist. If you haven’t heard the podcast you might wanna check it out. Really interesting, specifically this episode on where ideas and inspiration come from. It starts with fictional cavemen and ends with a raven who died from eating paint chips.
This is Breezy Point. Apparently it’s also known as the Irish Riviera. It’s way out at the end of the Rockaways in Queens. If you can figure out a way to get there you should definitely go. I love it.
This trailer gives me a weird uneasy feeling. I really want to see this but I can’t figure out how to watch it.
I’ve had an unhealthy obsession with this song lately. It started with this cover, but I think the original is better although I’m slowly killing both of them for myself with repeated listening.
Girl in Landscape
A few weeks back I had the pleasure of going to Costa Rica with my girlfriend. I didn’t want cheesy smiley peace sign photos. The landscapes were pretty enough but they needed a human element for scale and consistency.
Now let me bore you with my vacation photos. This feels like the new school version of sitting someone down in front of a projector screen and telling them how awesome I am minus the cool humming sound of the projector and the smell of burning dust on the lamp.
Fourth of July at home in Brooklyn
Beautiful.
So strange. Almost surreal. I love this.
Avalon Beach, NJ
I guess the whole state doesn’t look like Newark after all…
Along with being a wonderful place to go home to Venice Florida also claims the title of “Shark’s Tooth Capital of the World.” This derives mainly from the abundance of fossilized sharks teeth that can be found in the tidewaters and washed up on the beach.
Each year the city celebrates its sobriquet (shameless use of unnecessary word here, just learned it yesterday) by hosting the annual Shark’s Tooth Festival.
Along with the typical small town festival fare like chicken on a stick, funnel cake and cheap coldish beer attendees can walk away with giant shark jaws or bags full of sharp little thousand year old teeth. It’s Florida kitsch at it’s best.
Coney 2012…
har har har.
shorelines… Gulf and Atlantic.
“Let the most absent-minded of men be plunged in his deepest reveries- stand that man on his legs, set his feet a-going, and he will infallibly lead you to water, if water there be in all that region”
- Herman Melville, Moby Dick
beach days.
Inspiring short film about life and the value of following your dreams.
Powerful track by WU LYF ( World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation for those of you wondering). So much energy. I love it!
LUNIZ vs CHROMATICS
Soundtrack to a Saturday morning scan session.
